Happy Heartbloom to all!

The Heartbloom Fete or Heartbloom Festival is a time in the land of Exturil when the Heartbloom flowers finally, well, bloom. There are many old tales throughout the world regarding these flowers, some say that these flowers bloom when romance is at its height and love is in the air, while others say that they spring to life at the touch of true love. Due to this, it’s believed that genekit romantic partners who have these flowers growing naturally on their property are soulmates. While family units on such properties are often considered to be very loving. 

The flowers themselves come in many different colors, but are always heart-shaped. These different colors have been given different meanings, such as familial love, platonic love, romantic love, etc. Though many young kits don’t know this and will pluck random colors to give to friends, family, and crushes.

Indeed, during Heartbloom Fete, many genekits will pluck some of these flowers and utilize them in bouquets for loved ones or as part of floral crowns. Though many botanist and florist genekits are trying to move the populace away from harvesting wild Heartblooms in order to preserve them in the wild and to instead encourage everykit to buy ones grown specifically for the fete.

This Heartbloom, it seems a lot of kits are reflecting on themselves, their romantic lives, and those they love around them. Perhaps with a little self reflection, they may stumble upon something wonderful, or perhaps make some new friends along the way.

This Heartbloom, each user has the opportunity to earn one Fabled or Afflicted MYO by completing the Quest of the Heart!

This quest contains five prompts, each of which requires the previous prompt to be completed first. Each prompt gives a reward, but if you complete all five with one genekit, you can get a bonus prize of an Afflicted or Fabled MYO. You may complete the quest with as many genekits as you like, but you will only be eligible to earn one special MYO. Each kit may also only do each prompt in the quest once. The prompts are linked at the bottom of this post.

New members, don’t worry as you can still participate! You can claim the free MYO in the shop by buying the New Adventurers Starter Kit to make your first genekit, enter for any currently open genekit adopts or use any of our NPCs in the quests instead! There are also some free adopts open until February 3rd over on the sales tab! There may be other adopts popping up throughout the month too.

Heartbloom is also a time of platonic love, and we would love to see some more friends in the Genekit community, so we are doing a recruitment raffle. Everyone can enter once for free, but if you want more entries there are a couple of things you can do. If you post a journal/status on deviantart you can gain an additional +2 entries, and if you post on toyhouse, you can gain an additional +2 entries as well. Comment under the featured comment, including any links to claim your entries.

Heartbloom is the perfect time for a kit to daydream about the kind of life they want, and the kind of partner they may want.

Draw or write about what your kit may want in a partner, or if they want a partner at all. This may describe their current partner if they have one.

The Last Celebration of Heartbloom

Perhaps your kit is looking back at the last Heartbloom, praying that they have as wonderful a time this year. Perhaps they had an awful time, and never want to repeat it again. Regardless, it is a time of reflection.

The Core of My Being

Heartbloom is not just a holiday for romance, but for all kinds of love. It is important to celebrate those that you love, romantic, familial or otherwise. Perhaps it’s even a pet!

Draw or write about who your kit loves most in the entire world.

The Anguish of the Search

Often around Heartbloom, kits try to find companionship that they have not yet found. Sometimes, unfortunately, this goes unbelievably badly for them

Draw or write about a time your kit went on a date that went disastrously wrong.

The Final Mystery of the Quest

Your kit, on the dawn of Heartbloom, has found a small pulsing crystal, atop an abandoned shrine. It looks as if a new genekit will be born this very night! What does your kit plan on doing with this crystal? Will they take in the new youngster, give them to someone they know to look after, or perhaps abandon them entirely?

Draw or write what your kit plans to do with the crystal, soon to hatch into a baby genekit, that they have found.

Winter is upon Exturil! With it, comes a time of celebration as Genekits of all ages reflect on the past year, look forward to the year ahead, and spend some time with their families. 

This year's community celebrations are going small, but we cannot wait to see what you make of it!

During this time of the year, it is common for Genekits to go visit family and stay awhile with them during the winter season. Stemming from a time when it was dangerous to be alone for winter, now it is a time to reconnect with family members and spend time with them!

Hello, New Year, This Is The New Me!

Every year, the coming of a new year is grounds for many a genekit to create plans to change and improve themselves or their lives in some way. What's your genekit’s New Year’s resolution(s)?

Snow day

It's the very first snowfall of the year, how does your genekit spend it? Do they build a snowkit? Engage in a snowball fight with friends and/or family? Or do they stay inside where it's nice and warm with a warm beverage and a good book? Whatever they do, we want to hear about it!

New friends

Two new Tester variants are up for grabs! Complete the "Hello, New Year, This is the New Me" and "Snow Day" prompts to bring your new friends home!

Thank you for being here with us - we appreciate you sticking with us, as slow as it has been. Both Tester, I, and the rest of staff are hopeful for big things coming in 2026!

As the first day of Spring dawns, from the town hall, a kit dressed as a court jester emerges and gently blows a long, high pitched horn. As is tradition, they get a custard pie to the face. Laughter rings out from the jester for all to hear!

The Day of The Fool has officially begun! 

All around, kits playing harmless pranks and practical jokes on their loved ones, people participating in various bets and games, and plenty of bright colours and jingling bells to give homage to the original fool, the court jester! Watch out, there are custard pies, whoopie cushions and banana peels galore!

The Day of the Fool is a chance for all to let loose and allow their fun and playful side to come to the forefront! After all, as long as everyone is happy, what’s the harm in a joke or two!

Of course, some may be more willing to take advantage of the jovial, fun-filled atmosphere of such a holiday for their own benefit… Perhaps their gambles may even be worth taking…

That’s right everyone! The Day of the Fool is now upon us! Today marks the very first day of the April Fool’s event, and that’s no joke!

We’ve worked hard to put together this fun mini-event for all of you to partake in! We’ve got some fun limited-time prompts available, a special new item, and a brand new pet! 

The keen-eyed among you may have already spied our latest pet, Jester! A relative of Tester (at least that’s what they’ve told us), this cutie is here to bring the fun and excitement of the day to the world and they may just come home with you!

In addition to Jester, you may have also seen our newest item - Dealer’s Dice! This cool item is something which staff will have to manually roll the results of, but you’ll get a randomly rolled trait to add to your genekit with it! 

“How do I get these marvelous things?” you may ask. Why, by doing the quests of course! Among our three limited-time prompts for this event, you’ll get 25 gems plus a chance to get something on the event’s loot table!

It's been a long time coming....

Thank you all for being here and coming along for the ride. I am proud to announce that Genekits are now (softly at least) OPEN!!!!

Staff Applications

I wanted to open up the opportunity to bring on some new members of the team!! 2 years in, it is time to expand our team, and hopefully get some more fun things up faster.

Members of staff do have additional rules for their positions that they must follow, including but not limited to timelines for task completion. Staff are also held to a strict code of conduct and non-disclosure agreement (i.e. what happens in staff chat stays in staff chat! Don't ruin the fun surprises c; ). Failure to abide can result in dismissal from staff.

First up, Asset Artists!

We invite anyone interested in helping to create art for the site to apply! This includes item art, banners, awards, pets, and examples for guides among tons of other things. There is a lot of work to be done here, and I have a lot of ideas, so we are looking for someone excited and passionate about bringing this world to life to fill this role.

This position is a new one for Genekits; I am looking for writers to help flesh out the world, provide flavour text, come up with prompt ideas and categories, and help with events and other things around the site. They will be working close to me to develop parts of the game!
