The pedestal that Larkin's parents built for her was small, simple and lack grandeur, but it was adequate. A short wooden stool with knitted patterns made to act as socks upon the stools legs and give a pop of colour and texture. The stool then had a small cushion that her crystal was placed upon, her parents wanted to ensure she was cushioned on the off chance that her crystal was knocked a fell over. The stool was surrounded by a variety of potted plants that were of varying heights and shapes. Amongst those plants sat gifts from her parents to one another over the years of their relationship, such as pretty stones, ribbons and jewellery that they had grown to love and felt was representative of all the different stages of their relationships. As Larkin grew inside her crystal, her parents slowly worked on carving wooden figurines that represented them. Larkin's crystal was surrounded by picked flowers that were replaced every few days as soon as they started to wilt and not look quite as good. Her mum would pluck the petals and dry them in preperation from Larkin's arrival as they would use the plants as confetti to celebrate her after they dried out. 206
