Bump! Bash! Crash! Whiz! A bolt of energy shot around the corner as the young genekit flew his way down the stairs, a few more bolts of strange, fizzing energy flowing after him.
“I’m gonna be late, I’m gonna be late…” He huffed, his stubby little limbs barely able to move fast enough to keep up with his momentum.
“Love, calm down.” Came the soft voice of his father. Rolan’s breathing was ragged. “It’s okay, you’re not late. You’re just on time.”
“But you said we had to leave at-” Rolan panted.
“I know- but I knew you’d be so nervous that your powers would go haywire. We still have fifteen minutes before we need to go.”
Rolan deflated, nerves flying from his form. “Oh…”
“Can’t have my little prodigy be late for his first day of magic school huh?” His Dad laughed. “After all, if you’re going to be some big, famous wizard one day, we need to be able to get this under control!” He laughed
Rolan nodded, the swirling beams of energy around him having finally dissipated and settled. “I can do this!”
“Of course you can- and when you’re ready, I know your transformation ceremony will be spectacular.”
Rolan felt this was a lot of pressure, but was sure he was more than up to the task.
